Animal Home

I am very grateful for what I have and what I have achieved. I never take anything for granted. I am a HR Consultant and have been successfully running my business, Ethical HR Solutions Ltd, since 2018.

I realise that some people and animals do not have the happiest of lives.  I therefore always like to give back in the hope that my efforts will bring a little bit of sunshine and kindness into others lives.

A couple of years ago, a very frightened hungry cat arrived in my garden.  It was obvious that he had been abused due to the sheer terror that he showed in his little face and body language.  He was absolutely starving as well.

As a crazy cat lady, already with 6 cats, I couldn’t let him be hungry, so my plan was to feed him, gain his trust and then carefully capture him so that he could be rehomed.

Unfortunately my plan didn’t quite work!

After a month of gently talking to him and offering ‘Dreamies’, he eventually allowed me to touch him.

It was obvious that he had never experienced affection, kindness or any love.

He slowly learnt to trust me and I fell in love with him and he fell in love with me.

Our bond became so strong that, you guessed it, I decided to keep him. He wasn’t chipped, nor on a register of lost cats so he became my ‘No.7’.

He is beautiful, now 2 years on,  he is the most loving gorgeous affection cat that you could ever get, as you can see from the picture.

He is grateful for his loving home.   He taps me with his little paw if I don’t give him enough affection and I cuddle him like a baby.  We are both complete soppys!!

Last year, I wanted to use my time and skills to cook for homeless people. It saddens me that people do not have the safety of a home, the least I could do was to cook a well-balanced meal full of kindness.

managed to support as joint head chef for the Winter Shelter Project in Maidstone.  We would cook once a week for around 30 people.

So now onto this year.

I decided to use my newly found love of road cycling to help others by raising funds.

Whilst dealing with the dreaded menopause and other health issues, I have trained week after week to become stronger and fitter.  Riding in hale stone and rain is not much fun but no one ever said cycling was easy!!

In preparation for my big fundraising event at the end of the year, I have also completed a 115km ride, cycled up mountains for 4 days in Spain, completed a 100 mile Ride London event and last Sunday completed the London to Brighton, with the nasty Ditchling Beacon to finish.

So my big event is at the end of August/beginning of September, I will be riding to Paris to raise money for the Royal British Legion.  We cycle for 284 miles over 4 days, this will be exhausting but it will result in a heap of money raised for charity. I hope to raise around £2,000.

This is my fundraising link if any other crazy cyclists would like to donate.

Never one to sit still, I am already thinking about how I would like to help others next year!

Someone mentioned triathlons and then someone else mentioned half Iron Man!!!! Mmmm, fun!  I don’t run and I don’t swim so there will be a lot of training to do!

My plan is to raise enough money from the sponsorship of my triathlons to buy land for abused animals, just like my No.7 who has experienced a distressing and unhappy life.

I want to help other animals feel safe and loved. I simply don’t understand how anyone could hurt an animal, they are so trusting and loving.

I am also raising funds for the land through the sale of my first children’s book.  I published this about a year ago and it currently sells on Amazon.

I am in the process of writing my second book, again the proceeds will go towards buying the land for the abused animals.

The land will also house homeless people. Once the individuals have an address, they will be able to apply for jobs so hopefully getting more people into employment.

So after reading all of this information, you are probably wondering what is the point of my story, apologies if I have waffled a bit!

I am hoping that you would be happy to share my story, then hopefully, the coverage will enable me to continue to help others and also achieve the dream of buying the land to help abused animals and homeless people and give them a happier life.

Many thanks for taking the time to read my story.

Kind regards,

Amanda Parvin
