SKILLS 30 : 30

WORKSHOPS     COACHING     ADVICE     SPEED-NETWORKING

HELP BRIDGE THE GAP BETWEEN SCHOOLS AND BUSINESSES

Finding appropriately skilled staff is the biggest challenge to business growth. With more than one million unfilled job openings across the UK

We’re working with the Government to make it easier for small businesses to get involved in inspiring young people about apprenticeships and the world of work.

In Kent, we offer a practical way for businesses to engage with education through Skills 30:30.

In this two-hour event, businesses hear from a local authority and relevant recruitment groups, while students take part in an employment-related workshop. Then both groups get together for facilitated speed-networking.

Join in to find out about local developments AND share your business advice and expertise with students.

More than 5,000 students from 32 schools & universities in Kent & Medway have now been through the program.

“We have held two  30/30 events at the our School during 2019. Approximately 60 of our pupils from a range of year groups have enjoyed highly inspiring talks from keynote speakers about how to make that first break into the world of work. For many of our students it is quite a daunting and an often unexpected leap from the comfort of the classroom to the interview panel and their advice is hugely beneficial to helping the students to develop the right mindset for being ready to enter the job market. The networking event is an equally powerful experience with students and businesses connecting to share their big ideas for themselves and advice on how to turn that into a reality. The FSB 30/30 event was voted as the most popular careers event held at the  School in 2019. We can’t wait for the next opportunity to open our doors to more local businesses”.

Thank you for the 30:30 event  today. The pupils loved it and were keen to tell me about it at lunchtime! I hope that are inspired to think about what their futures may be.

Student feedback

“I was not sure what I could gain before I came. But gained such great feedback. Not just generic but to me personally. It was so much more than expected and I was completely comfortable with those I spoke to. They were amazing”.

“It’s been so good to meet professionals whose career paths have taken turns and gone different directions – it’s shown me what’s possible after university”.
