Your Business Needs to be on Instagram NOW

Instagram may be another ever-growing social media channel but what has posed pics, unrealistic filters and multiple hashtags got to do with business? Well, let’s start with a few facts; Did you know that Instagram has over a billion active users per month? Did you know that Instagram subscribers increased by 22.9% in 2020 alone? Did you know that 71% of US businesses use Instagram for their Marketing?

If these three facts alone don’t make you want to get your business on Instagram immediately then hopefully the next 5 pointers will help. So, why should you use Instagram? Or, if you already do, what do you need to do to make your business succeed on the platform.

1 Reach:

Instagram provides incredible reach. By using hashtags that represent your business, service or product you can get your profile in front of millions of users very quickly and easily – for free. Think across the board when adding hashtags, don’t just hashtag your business name but the sector you are in, the products or services you sell and any related topics. For example, for this blog post I may use #instagrambusiness #hintsandtips # businessoninstagram #businessowner #socialmedia tips #socialmediamarketing #marketingstrategy #themarketingassistant #blogpost #instagramblog #instagramtips #marketingtips #howtouseinstagram etc.

2 Insight:

Instagram has some brilliant free analytical business tools that allow you to delve deeper into your audience. These tools provide insights into demographic and geographic as well as information about what day and time you get the most engagement to help with future posts. The insights from the data Instagram can provide can also be used for other areas of your business.

3 Community:

Instagram enables you to build relationships through the stories function and produced content geared toward your audience. This then leads to user-generated content from individuals sending in photos or tagging you in their own Instagram posts. Due to the nature of the content shared and the hashtags used for search it is a great way to find similar businesses or interests from all over the world. Business in 2021 is all about community so embrace this element.

4 Targeting:

Knowing your target market is absolutely key for any marketing activity. With Instagram you can promote your posts and gain more exposure to an already engaged target market. Using Instagram function, you can also post selected content to different demographics and geographics i.e., focus on people in London only etc.

5 Partners / 3rd Parties and Influencers:

By partnering with influencers who are related to your business, you can reach more prospective customers by tapping into the influencers audience and making use of the trust that the audience has for the influencer. Building 3rd party relationships, endorsing and recommending each other all helps to build your audience.
