Security

On the BusinessBunker Xtra radio show we discussed the amount of free resource and support there is available when considering your cyber security risks in business. With more and more household brands suffering from cyber-attacks and data breaches everybody needs to pay more attention both at home and work when being on line.

We spoke about the recent incidents affecting Ticketmaster and Dixons Carphone customers and since the show now Adidas, NHS and Costa Coffee / Whitbread Group have also admitted a data breaches involving payment card and various personal data records.

In general terms, the lost data relating to these breaches find its way into criminal hands so that they can then use the information to amongst other offences, commit ID theft and fraud.

If you are/were a customer of any of these breaches, then it is a sensible idea is to change your password asap. It is also good practice to review all your online accounts. If you use the same email address and password for other account, change those to.

For more information and free advice the below are very useful websites that give you a start on considering your cyber security risks both at home and work. I recommend visiting the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) via this safe link https://www.ncsc.gov.uk/guidance/10-steps-cyber-security going through these steps certainly assist you in understanding where your efforts is required in a measured approach or visit;
