Kent Business School has the pleasure of inviting you to our Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity (EDI) Business Series event under the title Skills to Success, held at the Dockyard Church at the Chatham Historic Dockyard in Medway on Thursday 31 October 2019 from 17:00 – 19:00hrs. This event is co-hosted by our Student Success and External Services teams.
The EDI Business Series are a series of events focusing on equality, diversity and inclusion in the UK business environment. How do we help develop UK PLC into an inclusive workplace where no one feels left out because of their age, disability, gender, race, beliefs, sexual orientation or social background? How do we help our students to build their confidence and succeed in a world where equality is not yet a given? Motivational speakers on the themes of equality, diversity and inclusion share their views and experiences with KBS students with the aim to inspire, challenge and develop one’s learning.
On the 31st of October, we will be joined by The Worshipful The Mayor of Medway Councillor Habib Tejan and international speaker and University of Kent student Hayley Mulenda, who will share with us their personal life journeys, and talk about the skills that helped them to become confident, happy and successful in life.

Currently in its third year this extremely popular and not-to-be-missed event will bring together Kent business leaders, local government decision-makers and academic experts to discuss regional challenges and promote Kent as a sustainable, innovative, forward-thinking and outward-looking county.
Now regarded as the County’s flagship event in cross-sector collaboration, this year’s Summit will focus once again on four priority areas for the county:
Throughout the day, delegates will have the chance to hear from a number of high-profile speakers including:
Speaker topics include: innovation and productivity; sustainability and the sharing economy; and the new political and economic relationship of the UK with the EU.
In the morning, delegates will be able to attend a range of good practice workshops, led by a variety of academic experts, heads of industry and government representatives. These workshops will draw upon actions identified at last year’s event, review what has been achieved through cross-sector collaboration over the past year, and assess where new partnerships could be formed.
The University’s Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Karen Cox said: ‘The Kent Business Summit is a great opportunity for the University to demonstrate its commitment to working in partnership with organisations of all sizes across Kent and Medway. It also enables all of us to learn more about how established and newcollaborations and partnerships help bring valuable resources into the region, contribute to economic growth and ensure the long term sustainability and quality of life in Kent.’
The Summit is organised by Kent Business School in partnership with the Institute of Directors (IoD), the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) and Locate in Kent (LiK), with support from head sponsor Crowe and media partner KM Media Group. It follows on from the highly successful 2019 summit, which saw more than 350 business leaders and key decision-makers taking part.
