Growth Accelerator – A Well Kept Secret

Its 6 months since the Department of Business, Innovation & Skills invested £200M and launched Growth Accelerator; its latest initiative to give selected companies business coaching help to kick-start UK plc. 26,000 companies could be receiving up to £10K worth of funded support to help them double the size of their business (and employ more people) in the next 3 years. So, is it working?

Yes it is. But only for those companies that have managed to uncover this support and apply. Here in Kent it’s a case of ‘tripping over the website’ or knowing someone who is already on the program. Such a shame that so many ambitious businesses; good businesses that want to grow and can be much better with a bit more expert help, are missing out.

Of course, there is a selection criteria; based in England, with less than 250 employees and £40M turnover, a company that has the genuine potential to grow rapidly with some expert help. That’s it – easy really – you just have to be coachable for the business coaching to work!

So, how good is it? The program is only delivered by registered and approved Growth Coaches and where there is a good match of client to coach, amazing things happen very quickly! Confidence builds, clarity of goals, objectives and actions appears, employees become engaged, more prospects become customers and more money comes in.

So, where does the ‘up to £10K’ come from?

Up to 7 sessions of business coaching – at least £3K
Access to £3K grant for intellectual property audit
50% matched funding for leadership & management training – circa £3K
Access to specialist workshops and the Growth Accelerator community – priceless!!

You do have to pay a bit towards the program. Just £600 for less than 6 employees, £1500 for 6 -49 employees – plus VAT of course. This one off payment covers all the costs of the program.
